This Vertical Surface Maintenance Course is designed for individuals entering the cleaning industry or looking to enhance their foundational skills in maintaining vertical and ceiling surfaces. The course aligns with industry standards, focusing on safety protocols, organisational procedures, and the use of appropriate tools and equipment for effective cleaning tasks
Beginners or experienced individuals with or without prior experience in facility maintenance or cleaning services will be able to gain practical skills for roles involving vertical surface cleaning (e.g., window cleaners, building maintenance staff).
What You'll Learn
Participant will demonstrate their ability to:
- Identify and apply appropriate techniques for removing dust, debris, soilage, and spillage on vertical and ceiling surfaces.
- Describe the types and characteristics of different vertical/ceiling surfaces (e.g., glass, metal, concrete)
- Select and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling corrosive or odour chemicals for stain removal.
- Collect, organise, and store tools, equipment, and consumables on racks or receptacles for smooth workflow
- Follow organisational guidelines for cleaning vertical surfaces, including reporting procedures and compliance with local regulations.
- Recognize and display appropriate safety signage in designated areas to
- Demonstrate understanding of legal requirements, including compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulation 39, in cleaning operations.
- Replenish cleaning supplies as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
- Report work-related challenges or safety concerns to supervisors when activities cannot be completed as planned
Minimum Entry Requirement
Full Course:
- No Formal Education
- Have the ability to communicate in at least 1 language either English, Chinese or Malay
- Have work experience in the cleaning industry
Assessment Only Pathway (AOP):
- Have a minimum 2 months of work experience in the cleaning industry on top of the above skills and knowledge
- Company to provide a Company Declaration Form
