Specialist Diploma in Gerontology (community Care Practice)

This course is jointly offered by Ren Ci Learning Academy (RCLA) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). It aims to provide in-service staff and new entrants with a sound theoretical understanding of gerontology and practical skills and knowledge to engage, support and empower older adults and their families in the community. The course also aims to deepen skillsets for in-service staff such as Program Executives and CCEs to enhance their proficiency in leading programme development and volunteer management.

What You'll Learn

Upon graduating from the course, graduates should be able to:

a) engage effectively with older adults and stakeholders to co-create holistic solutions to address complex needs

b) conduct basic medication history-taking and support medication adherence in older adults

c) promote volunteer engagement and retention

d) assist with safety interventions and community integration of older adults

e) work collaboratively and ethically in ageing services

Minimum Entry Requirement

A Polytechnic Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma / Technical Engineer Diploma / Work-Learn Technical Diploma / Work-Study Diploma or equivalent

OR

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

OR

A Post-Secondary Certificate with at least 3 Years of relevant

working experience

Applicants with other equivalent academic qualifications and/or working experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
