This course aims to train new entry opticians in the technical skills & professional knowledge required in the field of Opticianry, which includes dispensing and refraction.
What You'll Learn
The course consist of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions as well as industry attachment. During the course of 12 months, participants will take total of 10 modules, which includes knowledge and skills in optics, dispensing and refraction. At the end of the course, participants successfully pass the course and meet at least 75% attendance rate will be Advanced Certificate of Performance in Ophthalmic Dispensing and Refraction (ACOPOD+R) which they may register with Optometrist & Opticians Board (OOB) to practice opticianry.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- At least 21 years old
- Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking) Level 6 or GCE O-Level English grade C6 or GCE N(A)-Level passes in English Language grade 5; AND
- Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE O-Level Mathematics grade C6, or GCE N(A)-Level passes in Mathematics grade 5
