This course is specifically designed for mechanical engineers interested in the space industry, providing a foundational introduction to space technologies. It is a key component of the Singapore space sector's efforts to establish a thriving ecosystem by offering professional learning and upskilling opportunities to individuals working in, or aspiring to work in, the Singapore space sector. The course covers a range of topics including propulsion, attitude determination and control systems, launch environment and structure design as well as thermal design and analysis.
The global space industry is projected to expand to a market size of US$1 trillion by 2040, compared to less than US$400 billion in 2020. This growth is primarily driven by the emergence of the "new space" industry, which leverages space-based connectivity and satellite data analysis to derive valuable information. It greatly contributes to the digital transformation of terrestrial economies. This course aims to equip learners with the necessary professional training to thrive in the digital economy generated by the space industry.
Throughout the course, learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of the space sector's role within the digital economy and the essential infrastructure for satellite-based digital applications. They will explore how various satellite subsystems collaborate to achieve mission success and gain valuable insights into the rationale behind space mission design. Minimum Entry Requirement
This programme is suitable for participants working/ intending to work in the space industry. Prior knowledge in mechanical engineering or physics will be an advantage.
