This course is only for the low wage workers in the PWM-Cleaning Sector.
At the end of this course, you will be able to perform multiple skills across environmental services and landscape industries as a Property Steward (Residential Developments):
- Support workplace safety and health (WSH) culture programmes.
- Follow processes and procedures when cleaning residential areas and its related amenities.
- Apply advanced cleaning and perform maintenance of washroom facilities.
- Perform routine plant pruning under supervision.
What You'll Learn
- Adhere to WSH policy and procedures.
- Report unsafe behaviour and work practices.
- Escalate issues adhering to WSH policy and procedures.
- Participate in and promote WSH culture building programmes.
- Collect assigned tools, equipment and supplies and place them on rack/ receptacles.
- Use allocated personal protective equipment to perform cleaning of the assigned area in the commercial areas and to remove stubborn stains found in washroom facilities or hard floor surfaces.
- Perform cleaning in the commercial areas and the related amenities in accordance to organisational procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure waste collected at waste-holding area are secured in its containers.
- Replenish consumables cleaning supplies used for cleaning the amenities in commercial area when necessary to ensure smooth operation of cleaning services provided.
- Display the appropriate safety signage at designated area to prevent accidents during the course of cleaning the surroundings.
- Inform appropriate person or supervisor if work activities cannot be carried out.
- Using of the appropriate PPE when performing special cleaning to remove stains in washroom facilities.
- Perform checks on washroom facilities.
- Carry out basic maintenance of these facilities, when necessary.
- Update the inspection card upon completion of cleaning washroom facilities.
- Apply basic first aid procedures to remove corrosive chemicals upon contact with human skin.
- Assist in the preparation of sites for plant pruning.
- Select tools, equipment and machinery for plant pruning.
- Inspect plant to identify pruning requirements.
- Perform plant pruning according to schedule.
- Perform appropriate housekeeping, waste management and hygiene management to restore sites.
- Maintain tools, equipment and machinery through cleaning and disinfection if in contact with diseased areas.
- Adhere to WSH guidelines in the performance of plant maintenance tasks.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Speak, listen and read English at Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3, and manipulate numbers at Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3.
- Never attended school; pre-primary / kindergarten education; primary education without PSLE / PSPE certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of two months of work experience in the environmental service industry as a General Cleaner or with the interest to be employed in the industry.
