Portfolio: Professional Practice

This module is part of the Modular Certificate in Sports and Youth Development in Outdoor Education, Diploma in Outdoor Education. This Diploma is designed to develop people-centred professionals for the outdoor education, special needs, and youth sectors. You will develop interdisciplinary skills and knowledge relating to teaching, outdoor technical skills, environment, and people through a flexible, hands-on, and applied curriculum.

What You'll Learn

This module seeks to develop students to be reflective outdoor educators. They reflect on their motivations to pursue the profession and thereby develop their own personal philosophy to serve as a beacon in their professional practice. They will base their reflections on appropriate learning theories or conceptual frameworks in the profession. Accordingly, they will also reflect on their life journeys through outdoor education, how it has made an impact on their lives and how they will, in turn, seek to impact the lives of others through it. Beyond that, students will also be challenged to consider contemporary issues that contribute to the growth of the outdoor education sector.

Minimum Entry Requirement

'O' Levels

• At least three (3) 'O' Level passes in the following subjects:

English Language (EL1 or EL2) Grade 1 "“ 7

Mathematics Grade 1 "“ 6

One (1) relevant subject Grade 1 "“ 6

• and at least one (1) year relevant work experience

Higher Nitec

• GPA ≥ 2.0 OR
• GPA ≥ 1.5 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience

Nitec

• GPA ≥ 3.5 OR
• GPA ≥ 3.0 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience

Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)

• Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience AND Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA
• Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least two (2) years of relevant working experience. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. RP reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
