Pharmaceutical and Cold Chain Management

This module is part of the Post-Diploma Certificate (PDC) in Supply Chain Operations (Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management).

What You'll Learn

This module aims to provide an understanding of the theoretical concepts and practical applications relevant to the management of cold chain and pharmaceutical & Dangerous Goods (DG) with compliance with the industry standards and best practices.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

• Interpret the significance of cold chain management in pharmaceutical supply chain.
• Explain the operations and technologies in cold chain storage, transport, and packaging.
• Apply quality management systems and benchmarking for cold chain, and quality assurance systems for pharmaceutical supply chain.
• Determine Dangerous Goods (DG) classification, in accordance with Globally Harmonised System (GHS) and United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNRTDG), to ensure safe handling, storage, and transport of DG.
• Explain the proper management of healthcare waste disposal, in accordance with the guidelines of global and local authorities.
• Apply the regulations governing the pharmaceutical & DG logistics, to ensure their integrity and quality are in compliance to industry standards, along the supply chain.

Minimum Entry Requirement

Applicants should possess a local Diploma, ITE Technical Diploma / Technical Engineer Diploma / Work-Study Technical Diploma, or Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or Science from recognised institutions.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least five years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
