The Network Research module provides in-depth training on setting up and troubleshooting network services. Participants will learn techniques to scan and attack networks, gaining practical experience in identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities. The module covers the occurrence of local network attacks and provides strategies for defending against these threats. Through hands-on exercises, participants will develop the skills needed to conduct comprehensive network research and implement effective security measures. This module prepares participants to proactively identify and mitigate network threats, enhancing their overall cybersecurity expertise.
What You'll Learn
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
- Perform on Linux Commands, Text Manipulation and Setting up services on Ubuntu
- Understand the Rules of Internet Protocol (IP) Addressing, The function of Default Gateway in routing traffic, read subnet IP address ranges, to understand network address allocation
- Using network scanning tools and techniques to identify and catalog open ports, services
- Employ online-brute-force attacks such as hydra, and man-in-the-middle attacks, demonstrating the ability to execute the attacks, spot the attack when it happens and implement security measures.
- Employ offline brute-force attacks to crack password hashes and encryption, demonstrating the ability to evaluate the strength of cryptographic security measures and implement countermeasures.
- Write and execute complex scripts using Bash or other Linux scripting languages, enabling them to automate system administration tasks
- Capture, analyse, and interpret network traffic using Wireshark, enhancing their ability to troubleshoot network issues and identify potential security breaches.
- Understanding of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking model, including its layers and protocols, enabling them to troubleshoot network problems, and make informed decisions regarding network protocols and services.
- Acquire foundational knowledge of Trojan horse malware, including how it operates, common attack vectors, and detection methods, allowing them to recognize and mitigate Trojan-based threats.
- Understand of firewall rule configurations, and their role in host based security for windows and linux

Basic Information technology (IT) literacy
It is recommended the participant to have at least 1 year of working experience in IT industry
