Natural Language Processing I

This course is designed to upskill participants in the area of NLP by helping them acquire the fundamentals of this technology and become familiar with the technological landscape. Teaching useful hands-on skills, and knowledge of how to extend the skills, will be part of the course.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) has become one of the hottest areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially since the widespread availability of tools and services such as Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT). Interest in the field is from almost all industries, from technology firms to those in arts and humanities and ranges from multinational corporations to small 'spare room' startups. This course is an introduction to the field and focuses on the concepts. A good understanding of the fundamentals is critical to making sense of the possibilities of this technology and for appreciating the cost/effort involved in its practical deployment. NLP is evolving very rapidly, as part of a general AI trend, and a solid foundation is essential to make a career in this field with confidence and assurance.

Minimum Entry Requirement

Any professionals, managers, executives and technicians with some general knowledge of data analytics, data handling and programming (including basic python competency) is desirable but not essential.
