On completion of the module, the students should be able to:
- Describe the hardware architecture of a microcontroller system.
- Describe and apply bitwise operations on data.
- Program the microcontroller in C language to perform specific task.
- Describe and use the general purpose input output to control devices.
- Design parallel interface circuits to switch, LED, sensor and motor, and write program to read and control them.
- Understand serial communication and write program to control subsystem via the serial interface.
- Describe and manipulate analog input and output with microcontroller
- Understand PWM, use and program the microcontroller to generate PWM signal to control device such as motor or light.
What You'll Learn
Microcontroller Interfacing & Applications – Part of Modular Certificate in Microcontroller Applications (DEMH) is a 60 hrs module. Microcontroller is fast becoming ubiquitous. We can find Microcontroller in camera, projector, electric appliances and many more. In this module, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of microcontroller, programming and interfacing. Through lectures and practical labs, students will learn to write programs in C language to control peripherals attach to the controller, with heavy focus on interfacing the microcontroller to input-output devices such as switches, sensors, LEDs, 7-segment displays, and motors.
