This module is part of the Modular Certificate inLeadership in Outdoor Education Programme, Diploma in Outdoor Education. This Diploma is designed to develop people-centred professionals for the outdoor education, special needs, and youth sectors. You will develop interdisciplinary skills and knowledge relating to teaching, outdoor technical skills, environment, and people through a flexible, hands-on, and applied curriculum.
What You'll Learn
This module introduces the concepts and approaches of environmental interpretation and its application to outdoor learning programmes for various participant profiles. Topics include knowing, interpreting, and appreciating the environmental elements of Singapore, specifically the ecological, sociocultural, and historical landscapes. The emphasis is on exploration and acquiring of skills to interpret the environment, primarily in the context of urban and natural landscapes.
Minimum Entry Requirement
'O' Levels
- At least three (3) 'O' Level passes in the following subjects:
English Language (EL1 or EL2) Grade 1 "“ 7
Mathematics Grade 1 "“ 6
One (1) relevant subject Grade 1 "“ 6
- and at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Higher Nitec
- GPA ≥ 2.0 OR
- GPA ≥ 1.5 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Nitec
- GPA ≥ 3.5 OR
- GPA ≥ 3.0 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)
- Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience AND Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA
- Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least two (2) years of relevant working experience. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. RP reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
