At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss the principles of chronic diseases self-management, using behavioral change and lifestyle modification approaches to support clients to manage the medical, role behavioral and emotional consequences of living common chronic diseases.
- Assess clients'/patients' level of functioning, environmental factors, health literacy and needs for holistic occupational therapy intervention.
- Apply principles of behaviour change and self-management support to allow clients to set and meet goals.
- Apply behavioural change techniques to facilitate self-management and increase activity participation in clients and their families.
What You'll Learn
Using interactive lectures/discussions and self-study activities this course will assist occupational therapists to embed and apply behavior change and lifestyle modification approaches in interventions for clients with common chronic diseases. Participants can expect to test, trial and critique strategies and approaches both during and between sessions.
