This module is part of the Modular Certificate inLeadership in Outdoor Education Programme, Diploma in Outdoor Education. This Diploma is designed to develop people-centred professionals for the outdoor education, special needs, and youth sectors. You will develop interdisciplinary skills and knowledge relating to teaching, outdoor technical skills, environment, and people through a flexible, hands-on, and applied curriculum.
What You'll Learn
This module introduces theories, concepts and approaches of planning and implementing programmes of adventure education and outdoor learning for various participants' profiles. Topics include setting of appropriate challenges, group development, risk assessment and management, stages of group development, programming, and programme administration. The emphasis is on acquiring skills and knowledge to plan effective adventure education programmes, primarily in the context of multi-day camps for schools.
Minimum Entry Requirement
'O' Levels
- At least three (3) 'O' Level passes in the following subjects:
English Language (EL1 or EL2) Grade 1 "“ 7
Mathematics Grade 1 "“ 6
One (1) relevant subject Grade 1 "“ 6
- and at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Higher Nitec
- GPA ≥ 2.0 OR
- GPA ≥ 1.5 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Nitec
- GPA ≥ 3.5 OR
- GPA ≥ 3.0 AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience
Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)
- Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) AND at least one (1) year relevant work experience AND Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA
- Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least two (2) years of relevant working experience. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. RP reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
