Developing Health Proposals Using Dime Skills & Tools

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

• List 5 necessary skills to develop to become a good proposal-writer.
• Cite 8 characteristics against which to judge a good proposal.
• Outline a full proposal with 7 obligatory headings.
• Write good programme goals and Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely (SMART) objectives.
• Understand and apply basic proposal terminology.

What You'll Learn

Two of the most important skills that public health practitioners need to develop are programme design and proposal writing. These two skills are inseparably linked. A good programme design in a good proposal can lead to better implementation and management, and sets the stage for good monitoring and evaluation. In turn, a project executed well has better chances for re-funding and expansion by donors. This skills-building design, implementation monitoring and evaluation (DIME) course is designed to introduce students to the working environment that one will confront repeatedly.

Minimum Entry Requirement

• Bachelor's degree
• Relevant public health related work experience
• Candidates with other qualifications and experience may be considered on a case by case basis, subject to approval
• Preference for those with programme design, monitoring and evaluation.
