This caregiver training course for bed-bound and wheelchair-bound elderly is designed to equip participants with basic knowledge and fundamental concepts to provide home-based and personalised care to bed-bound and wheelchair-bound elderly in their home. It combined both knowledge and skills to assist and provide them with basic healthcare and first aid, as well as to manage home-based healthcare emergencies. The course aims to enable caregivers to take care of their own needs, as well as that of the elderly.
What You'll Learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify the important role of a caregiver. The course will cover the importance of identifying basic and common bodily changes in the elderly, as well as preventing and managing falls. Measurement of vital signs for the elderly, providing immediate first aid, and wound management will also be covered. Participants will learn to perform basic pressure injury assessment for the elderly and to develop activities and exercises for them. Lastly, participants will learn how to assist the bed-bound and wheelchair-bound elderly with Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADLs) and identify support services for both the elderly and themselves.
