The SDAMT is designed to enable adult learners to deepen their knowledge and skills, as well as develop specialisations in the aquaculture domain. As aquaculture production intensifies, farms need more precise and scalable ways of monitoring the health of their animals and the environmental conditions that will impact sustainable production.
Innovative modules such as Precision Fish Farming & Operations (PFFOps) aim to impart specialised skills to meet the evolving industry demands. Besides foundational knowledge of aquaculture practices, the specialised training will cover advanced technologies for precision farming, data-driven decision-making, and efficient operations management. Graduates of this programme will be better prepared to excel in a rapidly changing aquaculture landscape, where precision and sustainable practices are paramount.
What You'll Learn
The objective of SDAMT is to equip working adults in the ornamental and aquaculture farm industries with the skills and knowledge to maintain optimal care and health in aquatic animals, and to optimise aquaculture operations through technology and responsible aquaculture practices.
Upon graduating from the course, graduates should be able to:
a. perform diagnostic tests and prophylactic measures to treat and prevent spread of aquaculture disease;
b. apply fish nutrition, feeding and broodstock care to maximise aquaculture production;
c. develop a comprehensive understanding of precision technology in farm operations, aquaculture systems and infrastructure; and
d. apply the concept of sustainability in aquaculture and the importance of ethical and environmentally responsible farm practices.
