Profile
Polokwane is the economic and administrative capital of Limpopo, and for students across the Capricorn District, it’s also home to the province’s most recognisable TVET institution. Capricorn TVET College has built a reputation over many years as the go-to place for vocational and technical training in the region, drawing students not just from Polokwane itself but from Seshego, Bochum, Senwabarwana, and the wider rural communities that stretch across this part of Limpopo.
The college was formed through the merger of three historically distinct institutions: the former Pietersburg Technical College, Bochum College of Education, and the Northern Province Community College. Each brought its own identity and expertise, and together they shaped what Capricorn TVET College is today.
Four campuses make up the college’s network. The Polokwane Campus on Die Meer Street is the main academic and administrative centre, accessible by taxi from most parts of the city and well-positioned for students coming in from surrounding townships. Seshego Campus on Freedom Drive serves learners in the greater Polokwane area, while Ramokgopa Campus reaches communities in the Capricorn district’s more rural east. The Senwabarwana Campus extends TVET courses in Limpopo all the way north towards the Blouberg area.
Programmes span NCV Levels 2 to 4 and NATED N1 to N6 across engineering studies, business studies, and education and development. Engineering at Capricorn TVET College is a popular draw, with fitting and turning, electrical, and civil engineering all on offer, alongside business qualifications in financial management, public management, and marketing. Learnerships and skills programmes are also available for those not pursuing a full qualification.
NSFAS funding is accessible to qualifying students, and the college’s student support services cover academic guidance, career counselling, and wellness.
