Profile
Ekurhuleni West TVET College is one of the biggest TVET colleges in Ekurhuleni, and it’s not hard to see why so many students choose it every year. The college has six campuses spread across the western side of the metro — Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Tembisa, Kempton Park, and Kathorus. That last one serves students from Katlehong, Vosloorus, and Thokoza. So no matter which side of the west you’re coming from, there’s likely a campus close to home.
The college was officially established in 2001 and has been growing ever since. Its main offices are at the Germiston Campus, on the corner of Driehoek and Sol Roads. Most of the campuses are easy to get to by taxi or bus, which makes things a lot easier for students who don’t have their own transport.
EWC sits in one of the most industrial parts of Gauteng. There are factories, manufacturers, and businesses all around these campuses. That’s actually a big advantage for students because the college designs its courses to match what those employers actually need. TVET courses in Ekurhuleni at EWC include engineering, electrical, civil engineering, business studies, IT, hospitality, tourism, mechatronics, and more. You can study from N1 all the way up to N6, and there are also NCV programmes if that’s the route you want to take.
One thing that makes Ekurhuleni West TVET College stand out is its simulated enterprise offices. There are 18 of them across the campuses. They’re set up to look and feel like real offices, with boardrooms, reception areas, and working departments. For anyone studying office administration or business at EWC, this kind of hands-on practice makes a real difference when you eventually walk into a job interview.
The college also helps students with NSFAS applications, work placement, counselling, and other support services. Work-integrated learning is built into most programmes, so you’ll get real workplace experience before you finish your qualification.
