This course educates participants on the importance of physical activity for older adults and the key fitness components needed for functional fitness. It also covers falls efficacy, equipping participants with the skills to help older adults build confidence, manage fall risks, and maintain greater independence.
What You'll Learn
This course will educate participants about the importance of physical activity in later life and the different components of fitness required to maintain functional fitness. Participants will understand the concept of falls efficacy better, develop the skills to incorporate it into building agency in older adults to deal with the threat of falls and help them have greater independence in their later years. Participants will learn how to conduct the Functional Fitness MOT (FFMOT) and hold empowering conversations to help older adults recognise the importance of functional fitness, particularly strength and balance. Through this course, participants will gain updated insights and skills in applying various measures to assess older adults' confidence and abilities to deal with falls. The contemporary perspective of falls efficacy will help participants design appropriate falls prevention and management programs.
Minimum Entry Requirement
GCE O-Level and above;
ability to communicate well with people;
1 year of working experience with older adults population.
