Profile
King Sabata Dalindyebo TVET College carries the name of a respected AbaThembu king, and right from the start you can feel that sense of rooted leadership running through the place. Formed back in 2002 when Mapuzi, Mthatha and Ngcobo technical colleges came together, it has grown into the largest TVET college in the OR Tambo District, with seven campuses spread across the rural and semi-urban stretches of the Eastern Cape.
The main Mthatha Campus lies about ten kilometres out of town along the R61 Queenstown Road in Cicira Village, close enough for easy minibus access yet far enough to give the place a proper campus atmosphere with student residences that many learners rely on.
The main Mthatha Campus sits along Queenstown Road in Cicira Village, roughly ten kilometres from the town centre on the R61. It’s an easy ride on public transport, and the campus itself feels lived-in and straightforward, with student residences that make a real difference for learners coming from further out. That closeness to town also means easier access to work-based exposure placements, the kind of real-world experience employers in construction, engineering and business actually look for. You won’t find fancy bells and whistles here, but you will find workshops, labs and lecturers who know what it takes to make it in the local economy.
The college offers a solid spread of NC(V) programmes including Information Technology and Computer Science, Civil Engineering and Building Construction, Electrical Infrastructure Construction, Finance, Economics and Accounting, and Marketing. On the NATED side, students tackle Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and a range of business studies from N4 to N6.
