Profile
For many students across the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the search for a place to study after school often leads to one familiar name. Mnambithi TVET College, based in Ladysmith, serves a wide and largely rural catchment — attracting learners from Bergville, Winterton, Greytown, Pomeroy, and Weenen. That reach says a lot about its role in the region: not just as a college, but as a vital access point to skills development and opportunity.
The college came into being in 2002 through a merger of four institutions: Ladysmith Technical College, Ezakheni Technical College, Ezakheni Ex-College of Education, and Ezakheni Skills Centre.
Today, Mnambithi TVET College operates five campuses across Ladysmith and Estcourt, with three additional sites in Ezakheni Township, bringing training directly into the areas where students live rather than expecting them all to travel.
The main campus is situated at Murchison Street in central Ladysmith, easily reachable by taxi from most parts of town and the surrounding areas. Estcourt Campus serves students from the southern end of the catchment, while the Ezakheni A, B, and E campuses make TVET courses in KwaZulu-Natal genuinely accessible to township communities that might otherwise struggle with transport and cost barriers. Each campus has engineering workshops, computer labs, a library, and sports facilities.
Programmes include NCV Levels 2 to 4 across subjects like Electrical Infrastructure Construction, Education and Development, and Office Administration, as well as Nated N1 to N6 in engineering and business disciplines. The Pre-Vocational Learning Programme is a particularly valuable offering for students who don’t yet meet NCV entry requirements.
